Quote of the Week 7/29/13

July 30, 2013

Sorry I’ve been a little slack on the quotes this month. Things are finally starting to settle down, so I’ll be much more diligent (hopefully).

This week’s quote comes from Madeleine L’Engle, author of A Wrinkle In Time (among other things). This quote pretty much sums up my past couple of weeks. I may have been taking it a little too literally, and therefore am off to the gym. Ta ta!

“That’s something I’ve noticed about food: whenever there’s a crisis if you can get people to eating normally things get better. ”
–Madeleine L’Engle

If I'm ever in a crisis, someone should bring me mac and cheese.

Quote of the Week 6/17/13

June 17, 2013

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was awesome (albeit busy), with a bunch of people visiting from out of town. First Taylor came with 2 of her friends, and then Lauren came Friday night, and Cullen and Ben’s friends Saturday afternoon. It was a whirlwind of games, wine coolers, lounging by the beach, lounging by the pool, watching movies, and eating. Basically all of my favorite things.

This week’s quote is in honor of my weekend spent with good friends (both new and old). Enjoy!

“Cooking is not about being the best or most perfect cook, but rather it is about sharing the table with family and friends.”
–Skye Gyngell, My Favorite Ingredients

Which is especially true if you're cooking brussels sprouts. Gross.

Quote of the Week 6/10/13

June 10, 2013

This weekend was a soggy one–one rain storm right after another–which really put a damper on my plans to lounge by the pool all day. Despite the issues the rain caused, and my trip to the dentist’s office, this weekend was quite pleasant. I ate way too much, but I guess that’s not really out of the ordinary.

This week’s quote is from baseball player / manager Tommy Lasorda, and although it’s actually about baseball, I think it works just as well as a food quote.

“When we lose, I eat. When we win, I eat. I also eat when we’re rained out.”
–Tommy Lasorda

And he's 82, so you know he must be doing something right.

Quote of the Week 5/20/13

May 20, 2013

Well, I’m officially back to reality after almost 2 weeks of gluttonous indulgence. Was too afraid to step on the scale this morning because I know I’m not going to like what I see.

This week’s quote comes from French humorist Erma Bombeck, and highlights some pretty sage advice that I definitely did not follow whilst on my cruise.

“Never order food in excess of your body weight.”
–Erma Bombeck

That's pretty sage advice. I should really start putting it into practice more often.

I should really start putting that advice into practice more often.

Quote of the Week 4/29/13

April 30, 2013

Kind of busy this week, so let’s just get right to it. This week’s quote comes from cartoonist Walt Kelly.

“Food for thought is no substitute for the real thing.”
–Walt Kelly

This is how I'm feeling today, too.

Quote of the Week 4/1/13

April 1, 2013

Happy April! I was going to do some kind of April Fool’s Joke today, but I just couldn’t think of anything funny. So instead I’ll get right to the quote:

“Eggs Benedict is genius. It’s eggs covered in eggs. I mean, come on, that person should be the president.”
— Wylie Dufresne

Quote of the Week 1/21/13

January 21, 2013

I still haven’t gotten the hang of writing “/13” at the end of dates. Hopefully you guys have a better grasp on it than I do.

This is a quote for all of you out there who’ve already given up on your New Year’s Resolutions. Last year I was one of you! This year, I’m a bridesmaid in 3 weddings, so I don’t really have a choice but to stick to these stupid diets. For those of you still hanging in there, ignore this quote! Stay motivated!

“The second day of a diet is always easier than the first. By the second day you’re off it.”
–Jackie Gleason

Ooop! Should not have eaten that third cheeseburger.

I should not have eaten that third cheeseburger.

Quote of the Week 9/17/12

September 17, 2012

Hey everybody! My birthday was last week (HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!) and my awesome boyfriend bought me a gorgeous sapphire necklace, a fancy three-course dinner, and a kitten. Jewelry, delicious food, a KITTEN…what else could a girl ask for?

Here’s a picture of Ben holding my new kitten. His name is Weasley, because he’s a ginger. And I love him.

Contrary to popular Reddit belief…. Ben is not mexican. Just FYI.

Fezzik still isn’t sure how he feels about this new furball hanging out around the apartment. He’s been hiding in my closet a lot. But they’ve started playing together more and I think Fezzik is starting to tolerate his new lil buddy.

Kitteh! Come out of teh closet!

Today’s quote is in honor of my super awesome new furry family (Ben is somewhat included in that… not that he would know since he NEVER READS MY BLOG). But, I digress. Enjoy your week! I hope you’re all looking forward to a couple more Boston posts!

“Love me, feed me, never leave me.”
— Garfield

Hopefully they’ll get along better than Garfield and Odie… probably not, though.
