Quote of the Week 2/23/15

February 23, 2015

I hope you’re having a wonderful last-week-of-February. I, for one, could not be more excited about the new season of House of Cards coming out on Friday! I’m going to be enjoying it from the heart of the show, Washington DC! I’m so pumpedddd.

Also, congratulations to the winner of my recent “Kitchen Gadget Giveaway,” Jess Burns! Thanks to everyone who entered (there were over 150 entries!) and to everyone who took the time to vote for me for Best of Charleston!

Enjoy your week and this wonderful quote from Erma Bombeck who always keeps me laughing.

“I am not a glutton. I am an explorer of food.”
–Erma Bombeck

At least, that’s what I’m telling myself.

So. Yesterday was kind of a big fat giant deal for me. I closed on my first house!! I’m officially a homeowner! Yeah! So this week’s quote is short because I have about a million things I need to do.

I love all of you people!

“There are times when wisdom cannot be found in the chambers of parliament or the halls of academia but at the unpretentious setting of the kitchen table.”
–E.A. Bucchianeri

And yes, that is my ACTUAL kitchen :)

Quote of the Week 2/9/15

February 11, 2015

So, it’s almost Valentine’s Day, and for some reason, I decided to try this whole “paleo” thing. No idea why. I think I’m brain damaged. I’m on day 3 and it’s actually going better than I expected it to. The only real issue I have to report is that I almost started crying when my boss brought in a cheeseburger and french fries for lunch. The smell alone…

But I digress. Here’s this week’s quote. It’s all about love and stuff. Enjoy!

“Love and sausage are alike. Can never have enough of either.”
— Trixie Koontz

Quote of the Week 1/12/15

January 12, 2015

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I know I’ve been a bit slack in posting lately, but I’ve made it a goal of mine to post more often on my blog in 2015. I’m going to start some new segments, bring back some old segments, and just generally write more. Starting today!

This week’s quote (and the first quote of 2015) comes from fashion icon and Coco Chanel rival Elsa Schiaparelli, and I think it really gets 2015 off to a great start. Cheers!

“Eating is not merely a material pleasure. Eating well gives a spectacular joy to life and contributes immensely to goodwill and happy companionship. It is of great importance to the morale.”
— Elsa Schiaparelli

I mean, you can't argue with that.

Halloweekend is here! I’m celebrating with 2 different costumes, in addition to the Hocus Pocus costumes we did earlier this month. I can’t wait to post pictures for you guys!

What are you dressing up as?

“I only eat candy on Halloween. No lie.”

Quote of the Week 10/8/14

I know we still have like 3 more weeks until Halloween, but I’m going to a big Halloween party this weekend so I’m definitely in that mode. For example, I’ve started craving tiny candy bars for some reason.

“Whoever thought a tiny candy bar should be called fun size was a moron.”
–Glenn Beck

Quote of the Week 10/1/14

October 1, 2014

I feel like I say this at the beginning of every month, but I really can’t believe it’s October already. I’m going to a Halloween party next weekend. It can’t already be Halloween time already, can it? Can someone please take 2014 off of fast forward mode?

“October, baptize me with leaves! Swaddle me in corduroy and nurse me with split pea soup. October, tuck tiny candy bars in my pockets and carve my smile into a thousand pumpkins. O autumn! O teakettle! O grace!”

–Rainbow Rowell, Attachments

Yesterday was the first day of fall and today is the birthday of one of my very bestest friends, Christina-lina! Hope you have a wonderful day everybody, if you need me, I’ll be at Starbucks drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte.

“Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple.”

Quote of the Week 8/4/14

I’ve been (unsuccessfully) trying to eat fewer carbs lately, which has ended up making me crave bread and pasta even more. It’s a vicious cycle.

“Plain fresh bread, its crust shatteringly crisp. Sweet cold butter. There is magic in the way they come together in your mouth to make a single perfect bite.”
–Ruth Reichl

Great. Now I’m craving a milkshake, too.

Food Quote of the Week 7/16/14

July 16, 2014

I’m working on making updates to the blog, so you guys should see a bunch of new comments coming soon. In the meantime, enjoy this week’s food quote!

“Think what a better world it would be if we all–the whole world–had cookies and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap.”
–Robert Fulghum

I wholeheartedly agree. I could really use a nap right now.
