Quote of the Week 2/3/14

February 3, 2014

How bout them Seahawks, eh? The Super Bowl was kind of a super disappointment. I was rooting for the Seahawks to win, so I was happy on that regard, but it was just a total shut out, there was no suspense, and the commercials were more on the sentimental side than the hilarious commercials of Super Bowls past.

We had a huge feast at my apartment, complete with tater tot casserole, 2 kinds of wings, cowboy caviar, buffalo chicken dip, tortilla chips, chicken nuggets, leftover wedding cake, and oatmeal cookies. It was amazing.

In honor of the Super Bowl, this week’s quote comes from Ron Swanson. Enjoy!

“I’ve eaten a lot of food in a lot of restaurants. Why is everyone else so bad at eating?”

–Ron Swanson, Parks & Rec

Why, indeed.

Why, indeed.

Quote of the Week 1/13/14

January 13, 2014

So I think 2014 is going to be a good year. I’m feeling very optimistic–it’s been awesome so far, so I’m hoping that trend will continue in the coming months. Also, it’s restaurant week in Charleston. Remember last week how I said I was going to start my diet? Yeah, that’s not happening. I have a reservation literally every night this week at a different restaurant in Charleston. So, there’s that.

On a personal note, this weekend was really exciting for me because I’m officially in a relationship with a really cute boy that I’ve know for a while (who said you can’t get out of the friendzone?!). So if you see me on the street smiling like a crazy person, that’s why.

ICYMI, I’m giving away a free Delta Touch2O Faucet. Enter to win now! You have 1 week left. Good luck!

Quote of the Week 1/5/14

Holy cow! It’s 2014! My resolution is to be more diligent with updating my blog. It fell off a little bit there at the end of 2013, but I won’t let that trend continue this year! I’ve got a good number of restaurants that I need to write reviews for, AND I’m going to be hosting a special giveaway this week, so be on the look out!

The first quote of the week of 2014 comes from Anthony Bourdain and pretty much describes every meal I’ve had since 12/20/13. Did I mention my other resolution was to lose some weight & get healthier? Wish me luck!

“I lurched away from the table after a few hours feeling like Elvis in Vegas – fat, drugged, and completely out of it.”
–Anthony Bourdain

I love the way that man thinks.

Whoooo! Was that Auburn-Georgia game exciting or what? And Carolina-Florida was pretty intense, too, towards the end. This was definitely a great weekend for college football.

It was also just a really great weekend for me in general. Went to a chicken wing cook off on Friday night, tailgated on Saturday, and then saw Ender’s Game on Sunday! It was a jam-packed weekend, but it was so much fun and that’s just how I like it.

This week’s quote comes from Thomas Keller, and I think it really applies to life. Food just tastes better when people put their heart into cooking it. That’s probably why my mom is such an amazing cook!

“A recipe has no soul. You as the cook must bring soul to the recipe”
–Thomas Keller

This picture makes me want to go put an apron on & cook something. I just want to look that bad ass.

Quote of the Week 11/11/13

November 11, 2013

First of all, Happy Veterans Day to all the servicemen & women out there. Thank you for your service!

This weekend was my final wedding of 2013, and it was so much fun. My mom even came down from Greenville to celebrate Ryan & Becca, and it was just a total blast of a weekend.

The other highlight of my weekend was roasting a whole chicken in my crock pot for the first time. I know that this probably isn’t a major feat for any of you out there, but for me it was kind of a big deal. So this week’s quote is in honor of my newfound chicken roasting superpowers. Enjoy!

“You could probably get through life without knowing how to roast a chicken, but the question is, would you want to?”
–Nigella Lawson

I wish I could make spaghetti look that good.

So basically, this was the #BestWeekendEver. Cornmaze, pumpkin jump, japanese food, Scarowinds, Selena Gomez… so much fun!

Here’s hoping that this week will be just as much fun! In honor of Halloween on Thursday, here’s a quote with rocker Dee Snider. Enjoy!

“Halloween is huge in my house and we really get into the “spirits” of things.”
–Dee Snider

But when you're a rockstar, I feel like everyday is Halloween.

The wedding was amazing, you guys. Seriously, it was the best wedding ever, and I kind of wish it would’ve gone on for like 3 more days. Most importantly, my cake turned out amazing.  I’ll post some pictures tomorrow (and hopefully I’ll get to Taste of Charleston by the end of the week. Sheesh, I’ve been busy!)

Today’s quote comes from The Naked Chef,  Jamie Oliver, and I think perfectly summarizes the way I felt about this weekend.

“If you can eat with mates or friends or family, I mean, it’s such a brilliant thing isn’t it? If you feel really rubbish and you have a nice bit of food, it makes you feel good, you know?”
— Jamie Oliver

Although, to be fair, you should probably add "alcohol"

Although, to be fair, you should probably adjust the ending to read “a nice bit of food AND ALCOHOL…”

This weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the Southern Living Taste of Charleston event at Boone Hall Plantation as a blogger correspondent for Delta Faucet. It was so much fun and I can’t wait to share my experience with you!

In honor of all the delicious food I got to sample this weekend, this week’s quote comes from Ruth Riechl and I think it pretty much captures the spirit of the weekend.

“Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.”
–Ruth Reichl

Quote of the Week 9/23/13

So I’m in a wedding in like 2 weeks. I can’t even handle how fast this is happening, especially because I have not fulfilled my goal of losing 20 pounds before the wedding. If anything, I think I’ve gained weight. But Lily and I are trying to keep each other accountable and stick to the crash diet that we’re on pre-wedding (although that didn’t stop me from eating both Mexican and Indian food this weekend).

In honor of being really bad at dieting, here’s a quote from Meg Cabot.

“Wait. Why am I thinking about Krispy Kremes? We’re supposed to be exercising.”
–Meg Cabot, Big Boned
