Quote of the Week 11/5/17: Electing More Cheese

November 6, 2017

Happy Monday everyone! I had a very busy weekend in Washington DC visiting friends, eating lots of sushi, and celebrating our space program at a party at the Air & Space Museum. It was quite the eventful weekend.

My friends thought I was lame for getting this balloon hat, but they clearly don’t know what cool is.

Tomorrow is election day, so in honor of that, I give you a quote from Charles de Gaulle. Technically he was talking about France, but I feel like it applies to us, too.

“How can you govern a country which has 246 varieties of cheese?”
— Charles de Gaulle

Quote of the Week 10/23/17: Food & Feelings

October 23, 2017

Happy Monday again, my followers! I spent the weekend in Greenville and got to see 2 of my best friends, go apple picking, get attacked by bees, play lots of games, and eat waaay too much delicious food. Hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as I did!

This week’s quote comes from Ernest Hemingway, an author I generally dislike, but ended up really liking this particular quote (thanks, Goodreads, for the inspiration).

“As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.”
— Ernest Hemingway

Proof that good food makes us all happy.

Quote of the Week: Good Food Is My Kryptonite

October 16, 2017

Happy Monday, followers!

You may have noticed that I’ve been a bit MIA lately. I have spent the past couple months helping plan a giant and awesome costume party for Yelp, called YelpCon, which happened this past Saturday. It was soooo much fun (seriously, look at the pictures), but the planning kind of took over my life for a bit. I’m getting back on track now and plan to get back to my usual 3x-a-week posting schedule… (fingers crossed).

Let’s get started with a quote that I read from author James Patterson, which I thought sounded exactly like something I would say. Enjoy the rest of your week!

“Am I tough? Am I strong? Am I hard-core? Absolutely. Did I whimper with pathetic delight when I sank my teeth into my hot fried-chicken sandwich? You betcha.”
— James Patterson

Don’t even try to tell me you’ve never done it.

Quote of the Week 8/28/17

August 28, 2017

I had a wonderfully lazy weekend this weekend. I basically did nothing except lounge around the house and eat food. I had a friend come over and we watched lots of movies and it was positively blissful.

This week’s quote comes from Becky G. and sums up my idea of the perfect weekend:

“If I can, I love staying in pajamas all day and watching movies and eating good food.”
– Becky G.

I mean, is there anything more relaxing?

Quote of the Week 8/14/17: Let’s Taco ‘Bout It

August 14, 2017

If you couldn’t tell, I’ve been a bit busy this month (hence this being only my second post in 2 weeks… yikes!). I’m trying to get back into the groove of things now that I’m not traveling all over the place! I’ve made some changes in my life lately, and things are finally starting to settle down, so hopefully I’ll be able to create a schedule and stick to it!

This week’s quote is in honor of the fact that I spent a wonderful weekend with great friends this past weekend and this upcoming weekend, I’ll have friends coming in from DC for the Eclipse!

“You can’t just eat good food… you’ve got to talk about it to somebody who understands that kind of food.”
— Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

And you can’t be friends with me unless you want to eat and talk about good food.

Quote of the Week 7/31/17: I’m Avo-Control

July 31, 2017

So, I’ve been getting kind of fatigued from all those arbitrary “NATIONAL XFOOD DAY” posts that have been inundating my social media feeds lately, but National Avocado Day is one I’ll make an exception for. Because yes, I know the guac is extra, and I don’t care.

“I suppose there are people who can pass up free guacamole, but they’re either allergic to avocado or too joyless to live.”
— Frank Bruni

Quote of the Week 7/24/17: The Times, They Are A-Changin’

July 24, 2017

So in addition to summer slowly coming to a close, I’m also going through a lot of changes in my life right now. I look back at where I was 1 year ago or 2 years ago and I’m so proud and grateful for the progress I’ve made, the adventures I’ve had, and the people I’ve met. In honor of that, I found this quote to be particularly profound, and I hope all of you will enjoy it as well.

“I have made a lot of mistakes falling in love, and regretted most of them, but never the potatoes that went with them.”
–Nora Ephron

Potatoes are bae.

Quote of the Week 7/17/17 – Dude, Where’s My Bread?

July 17, 2017

So I’m starting to do that thing where I realize that I’m not as young as I once was, and eating and drinking everything I want with little repercussion is no longer working out for me anymore. So to counter act that a bit, I’m starting to incorporate more Keto diet practices into my life when possible. That means: no more bread. Or at the very least, it means I need to stop eating so much bread. Either way, I’m not looking forward to it.

(side note: if anyone has any good Keto recipes, feel free to send them my way!)

This week’s quote comes from and has put me in quite a pickle. What cures my sorrows if I can’t eat bread?!

“All sorrows are less with bread. ”
― Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra

I guess it’s sorrow from here on out, y’all.

Quote of the Week 7/3/17: What’s For Lunch?

July 3, 2017

So, if you’re like me, you’ve been celebrating 4th of July for the past 2 days with countless hot dogs and hamburgers straight off the grill, full days out under the sun, and more than my fair share of alcohol (but it’s okay, because I was at a house party where I slept on an air mattress with the most adorable dog in the world. That’s how I party responsibly).

This week’s quote is semi-patriotic in theme in that it represents America’s #1 pasttime: eating. Enjoy your actual 4th celebrations tomorrow!

“Ask not what you can do for your country. Ask what’s for lunch”
–Orson Wells
