Quote of the Week 2/4/13

February 4, 2013

So mad that I listened to that horse instead of betting on the ravens. Booooo. Then again I’d only have voted on the Ravens because of that Sandra Bullock movie. Whatever… Football is dumb.

I’m sure you guys made something delicious… I made loaded tater tots (tater tachos) which were freaking delicious… This quote accurately depicts how I make my super bowl decisions, and I love it.

“I predict one of these two teams will win the Super Bowl.”
–Gilbert Gottfried

Quote of the Week 1/28/13

January 28, 2013

Holy crap, January is almost over. 2013 is flying by.

Spent the weekend alone with my cats on the couch catching up on some TV I’m behind on. It was amazing. Ordered take-out from Mellow to avoid having to go to any restaurants by myself, and also to avoid showering. Seriously, best weekend ever. This week’s quote is from Andy Warhol and I think it’s a brilliant idea and why hasn’t this been invented yet?

“I like eating alone. I want to start a chain of restaurants for other people who are like me called ANDYMATS – The Restaurant for the Lonely Person. You get your food and then you take your tray into a booth and watch television.”
Andy Warhol

I just need a few shots of my burger before I eat it...

Quote of the Week 1/21/13

January 21, 2013

I still haven’t gotten the hang of writing “/13” at the end of dates. Hopefully you guys have a better grasp on it than I do.

This is a quote for all of you out there who’ve already given up on your New Year’s Resolutions. Last year I was one of you! This year, I’m a bridesmaid in 3 weddings, so I don’t really have a choice but to stick to these stupid diets. For those of you still hanging in there, ignore this quote! Stay motivated!

“The second day of a diet is always easier than the first. By the second day you’re off it.”
–Jackie Gleason

Ooop! Should not have eaten that third cheeseburger.

I should not have eaten that third cheeseburger.

This week’s quote comes from Harriet Van Horne. Enjoy!

“Cooking is like love, it should be entered into with abandon or not at all.”
— Harriet Van Horne

I abandon pretty much everything when I'm cooking. Including recipes.

Quote of the Week 1/7/13

January 7, 2013

Took the week off last week to recover from 2 weeks of drinking and eating and being otherwise generally unhealthy, so sorry for there being no quote. This week marks my first official week as a full-time employee! Wooo! I love being a slave to the man, not going to lie… although I guess it helps that I have the coolest job ever.

Anywho, it’s January, so that means everyone is gearing up on their New Year’s Resolutions. Many of you (present company included) are probably hitting the gym, trying to work off those pounds you gained eating too many cookies and mashed potatoes over the holidays. I’m actually joining a gym after work tonight because DAMMIT I’m going to stick to it this time.

This week’s quote comes from the late Rodney Dangerfield and offers a pretty solid “get thin quick” tip. Good luck at the gym this week!

“I found there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people.”
— Rodney Dangerfield

...or maybe I won't have to join that gym after all!

…or maybe I won’t have to join that gym after all! #respect

Quote of the Week 12/24/12

December 24, 2012

Merry Christmas Eve! I’m so excited for tomorrow! I hope everyone gets everything on their Christmas lists! I, personally, am more excited to see peoples’ reactions to the gifts that I got them. I’m so excited I can hardly contain it!

This week’s quote comes from the Christmas episode of the kooky British sitcom Blackadder, and I think describes Christmas pretty accurately.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

“I trust Christmas brings to you its traditional mix of good food and violent stomach cramps.”

— Ebenezer Blackadder (played by Rowan Atkinson)

You kind of have to watch it for it to make sense... and even then it doesn't really make much sense

Quote of the Week 12/17/12

December 17, 2012

This weekend was the Blue Ion Christmas party. It was very fun, and a much needed distraction from the craziness of the world. God bless Sandy Hook.

I’m going to keep this post light, in keeping with the saying “If I don’t laugh, I’ll cry,” and I truly believe that to not celebrate being alive would be disrespectful.

This week’s quote comes from comedy legend Phyllis Diller, and it pretty much sums up how I feel about office holiday parties.

“What I don’t like about office Christmas parties is looking for a job the next day.”
–Phyllis Diller

At least you'll go out with a bang!

Omigosh, how do I get my eyelashes to do that?

Week two of Christmas quotes continues! This week’s quote comes from political satirist P.J. O’Rourke.

“There is a remarkable breakdown of taste and intelligence at Christmastime.  Mature, responsible grown men wear neckties made of holly leaves and drink alcoholic beverages with raw egg yolks and cottage cheese in them.”
P.J. O’Rourke

Joke's on you. I hate Egg Nog.

Quote of the Week 12/3/12

December 3, 2012

Happy December everyone! I can’t believe it’s actually December already. I feel like this year has flown by. I went a little Christmas crazy this weekend, so I’m going to go ahead and make this my first Christmas quote of 2012!

This week’s quote from Charles Dickens’s Ebenezer Scrooge. It’s simple, but it pretty accurately portrays how I feel on December 1st of each year.

“Hallo! Whoop! How are you! Merry Christmas!”
–Ebenezer Scrooge

Now that it's December, it's socially acceptable for me to watch Muppet Christmas Carol 5 times a week, right?

Quote of the Week 11/26/12

November 26, 2012

I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving! I tried to eat in moderation, but (as usual) failed in my attempt. I think the following quote by Roman statesman Cato The Elder pretty much sums up why.

“It is a difficult matter to argue with the belly since it has no ears.”
–Cato The Elder

I imagine him sounding like Marlon Brando in “The Godfather.”
