Quote of the Week 7/8/13

July 9, 2013

This past week saw a nice long road trip to Cleveland, OH with some of my bestest friends in honor of 4th of July and my cousin’s high school graduation (which explains why I’ve been so MIA the past week. Internet is expensive and I went over my data with Verizon). In case you didn’t know, 11 hours in a car is a mind-numbingly long time. Definitely not in a hurry to do that again. Road trips are overrated.

We did manage to eat some pretty delicious food while in Cleveland, so expect some Ohio restaurant reviews in the coming weeks. I looked up a bunch of restaurants in Cleveland that have been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and made a list of places I wanted to go. We only ended up visiting one (Lucky’s Cafe), which was delicious. Next time I’ll try to cross the others off my list.

This week’s quote is in honor my road trip and comes from journalist Charles Kuralt.

“You can find your way across this country using burger joints the way a navigator uses stars.”
–Charles Kuralt

You gotta admire a man who can pose with a parking meter and still look cool.

Quote of the Week 6/3/13

June 4, 2013

Holy crap. It’s June already. I honestly have no idea how that happened so fast. 2013 is going to be over before we know it!

I spent this weekend in Atlanta with some of my best friends, eating, drinking, and being merry. I got to try one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten at the Holeman & Finch stand at the Atlanta Braves Baseball game. We had to wait in line for like 20 minutes to get it, but it was 100% worth it. More details on that later.

This week’s quote comes from the ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus. I chose this quote partly because Christine is Greek, but more so because I believe it is an accurate representation of my life.

“We should look for someone to eat and drink with before looking for something to eat and drink.”
–Epicurus

"Hey, why the long face?...no seriously, your face is really long."

I bet all of his philosopher friends were all “Hey, why the long face?…no seriously, your face is really long.”

Quote of the Week 9/24/12

September 24, 2012

First of all, happiest of Happy Birthdays to one of my bestest best friends, Christine, who is WAY OLDER THAN ME today! Wooo! Check your mail this week, expect something awesome. But not too awesome. Moderately awesome. Wouldn’t want my present to be all anti-climactic.

Had a pretty chillaxed weekend, which was nice. Spent Friday on the couch watching movies with Ben. Saturday, I made these awesome apple turnovers that I brought with me to an oyster roast hosted by one of my coworkers. It’s against my religion to come to a party empty handed. The oyster roast was very fun, and I really enjoyed seeing my coworkers outside of work, and with their hair down. Woooo bonding! Sunday, Ben and Doug and I went to Lost Dog Cafe, and I finally remembered to take pictures of the Biscuits and Gravy, so expect that review sometime soon!

This week’s quote is about oysters and how weird they are. Enjoy and have a great week!

“He was a bold man that first eat an oyster.”
–Jonathan Swift

He was a bold man who thought that hairstyle was a good idea.

Quote of the Week 3/19/12

March 19, 2012

THIS IS THE WEEK I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!! I’ve been debating for a couple of weeks now whether I wanted to wait until Friday to publish this post, but I’ll be too busy freaking out on Friday to want to write on this blog (no offense).

Thursday night, at 11:59 I’ll be in Atlanta, Georgia, sitting in my seat in the movie theater, next to Christine and Sean, waiting for THE HUNGER GAMES to begin. If you aren’t aware of my obsession with the Hunger Games, take a look at this Awesome Blog Post I wrote to inform yourself. So in honor of my nerdiness and uncontrollable excitement for the premiere, this week’s quote is from (you guessed it) The Hunger Games! And it totally fits because it was the word “Hunger” in the title, which relates to food, so ipso facto, food quote!

“And it’s not just that I don’t want to be alone. It’s him. I do not want to lose the boy with the bread.”
–Katniss Everdeen  The Hunger Games
