Four of Charleston’s finest bartenders will battle through three rounds of cocktail combat in a series of challenges demanding creativity, speed, quick thinking and composure behind the bar. A top-shelf judging panel along with an imaginative kitchen pantry will keep each contender on their toes as they compete for the ultimate title of Iron Mixologist Charleston. Ms. Rose’s Fine Food & Cocktails is excited to announce the return of their highly popular Comedy Hour series featuring Brian T. Shirley as headliner and Lance Morrison as the featured guest, and hosted by the hilarious Drew Howard. The show will take place on Saturday, March 4 with dinner at 7 p.m. and the show starting promptly at 8 p.m. Brian T. Shirley is widely known in the comedy world having authored three books and created the popular web series Bengleton Socks. He is the current host of BTS Radio show, BTS on the Road. The Faculty Lounge and Edmund’s Oast are partnering to host a “Let’s Go Crazy” Party on Saturday, March 4 featuring Miles Macquarrie from Kimball House in Atlanta. Starting at 10:00 p.m., Miles and Jayce McConnell will be creating a special cocktail menu alongside a beer and wine menu selected by Advintage Distributing. Smith Street Pizza will be serving pizza while DJ the Olive Branch and Mummbls provide entertainment. All items are available via an á la carte menu.

Cane + grain: no two ingredients are more paramount in telling the history of Charleston’s foodways. And what better place to share those stories than at historic Middleton Place National Historic Landmark. Dive into the Barbados culture that landed in Charleston and influenced the Lowcountry for centuries. In addition to soaking up the immaculately preserved gardens, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Middleton Place and its stable yards with some hands-on rice and sugarcane programs that will make historic plant-to-plate connections. Hear from Glenn Roberts of Anson Mills as he tells the history and testifies to the cultural significance of beloved Carolina Gold Rice. You’ll also be privy to the great molasses vs. cane juice debate while enjoying a healthy tasting of Mount Gay Rums, the oldest rum in the world that dates back to 1703!

As a way to raise significant funds for Hogs for the Cause in 2017, Home Team BBQ has created a new month-long campaign in March—Tacos and Tequila. There will be a number of opportunities to support the charity, including: Tacos A featured taco created in collaboration with Chef Jonathan Banta of The Atlantic Room in the Ocean Course and Home Team BBQ Pitmaster Madison Ruckel will be served at all Charleston locations. 100% of these proceeds will go to Hogs for the Cause. Each Tuesday in March from 9:00 to midnight, a guest chef will onsite to create a special taco that will be served on the menu downtown for the duration of that week. The sales from this taco will also go directly towards the charity. Tequila Home Team BBQ will serve a special shot of Milagro with a verdita, a variation on sangrita, at all Charleston locations. $1 of each shot sold will benefit the charity. The Downtown location will offer a tequila cocktails coined The Wild Rumpus: milagro tequila, aperol, passion fruit, death relish agave, and lime shaken and served in a Collins glass over ice with a citrus salt rim. $1 of each cocktail sold will…

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month and The Glass Onion proudly supports The Brain Injury Association of South Carolina to support at their next Charity Tasting.  On Wednesday, March 8 from 5:30-7:30p.m., patrons can enjoy spring wines including Henri Bourgeois Petit Bourgeois Sauvignon Blanc and Domaine Badoz Cotes du Jura Trousseau from Country Vintner. Chef Frank Lee will join Chef Reid Henninger at Edmund’s Oast for a special one-night only dinner service on Thursday, March 16. Frank Lee has been a big inspiration to Reid and several of his cooks, and Edmund’s Oast wanted to pay tribute to his culinary contributions.
