70th Annual Festival of Houses & Gardens

Historic Charleston Foundation (HCF) has announced the dates for its premier Festival of Houses and Gardens Tour, March 16 – April 22, 2017.  The upcoming festival, HCF’s largest educational program, will mark the 70th anniversary of the premier event which raises money for the organization’s preservation initiatives. “For 70 years, Historic Charleston Foundation has been educating the public about the benefits of historic preservation through its annual spring festival,” said Katharine S. Robinson, President and CEO.  “We are delighted to once again offer guests the opportunity to experience the best of Charleston’s historic architecture and gardens through our spring program.” The Cassina Group, a Charleston-based real estate firm known for its creative and innovative approach, will be the Presenting Sponsor of the Festival as well as the Charleston Antiques Show, March 17-19, 2017, which will kick-off the 2017 Festival. Tickets go on sale Nov. 1. Festival attendees will receive the virtual key to the city as they enjoy the rare opportunity to go inside approximately 130 private historic houses as well as distinctive gardens and notable properties. The Glass Onion will celebrate their ninth anniversary for an entire week March 20-25 by offering half-priced local, Charleston beer lunch and dinner. “We have always served local beer and want to support our local brewers as much as possible. Tacos & Tequila – Reid Henninger / Teddy Nixon

As a way to raise significant funds for Hogs for the Cause in 2017, Home Team BBQ has created a new month-long campaign in March—Tacos and Tequila. There will be a number of opportunities to support the charity, including: Tacos A featured taco created in collaboration with Chef Jonathan Banta of The Atlantic Room in the Ocean Course and Home Team BBQ Pitmaster Madison Ruckel will be served at all Charleston locations. 100% of these proceeds will go to Hogs for the Cause. Each Tuesday in March from 9:00 to midnight, a guest chef will onsite to create a special taco that will be served on the menu downtown for the duration of that week. The sales from this taco will also go directly towards the charity. Tequila Home Team BBQ will serve a special shot of Milagro with a verdita, a variation on sangrita, at all Charleston locations. $1 of each shot sold will benefit the charity. Slow Food Charleston 2017 Snail Awards

Slow Food Charleston’s second annual Snail Awards are set to return to the American Theater on April 13, 2016. Chef David Schuttenberg of Fish will host guest chefs Zak Pelaccio of Fish & Game (NY), Bob Cook of Artisan Meat Share (SC), John Lewis of Lewis Barbeque (SC), and Air Casebier of FEAST (SC) in an evening celebrating producers, artisans, educators, advocates and others who are advancing Slow Food’s mission of Good, Clean, and Fair food for all. All tickets for the Snail Awards are $75, available now at snailawardschs.com The event will be comprised of two parts. The first, a VIP Meet-and-Greet with snacks by Air Casebier’s  FEAST, a specialty cocktail by the team at Fish and High Wire Distilling, and an educational Presentation of Finalists.
