On Saturday January 13 from 1pm - 4pm, James Island's only Brewery, Famulari's Brewpub is hosting an oyster roast for the release of a special new beer and giving a portion of the proceeds to benefit Oyster Habitat Preservation. Perfect for this occasion, guests can enjoy and sample the Brewpub's new beer: Sea Pearl Oyster Stout along with all-you-can-eat oysters for just $20. Toadfish Outfitters will also be there running a pop-up shop so guests can browse and shop while they sip and slurp back fresh oysters. Famularis Brewpub is located at 1291 Folly Rd Suite 101, Charleston, SC 29412. Toadfish Outfitters is an eco-active manufacturer and retailer of coastal-lifestyle products. They design quality products from recycled materials and donate a portion of all revenues to preserving coastal habitats throughout the East and Gulf coasts.

On January 28, 2018, the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association (GCRA) invites guests to head to Boone Hall Plantation for the world’s largest oyster festival- the 35th Annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival. Tickets are now available for purchase online at www.charlestonrestaurantassociation.com/lowcountry-oyster-festival. Named one of the “Top 20 Events in the Southeast” by the Southeastern Tourism Society, the Lowcountry Oyster Festival will feature over 80,000 pounds of oysters, in addition to a variety of food options from local restaurants and food trucks. Charleston’s Chef Tres Jackson has been invited to showcase his talents on sacred culinary grounds…at the James Beard House. The New York City food and beverage namesake is reserved to feature only the most revered chefs in the industry like legends Daniel Boulud, Nobu Matsuhisa, and Gail Gand who have all cooked there. March 20, Tres Jackson will join the ranks of these culinary forces and will present his talents in the former home of James Beard himself. While this is an exciting event for them, many of Sorghum & Salt’s patrons will not be able to take time for a trip up to New York to attend the dinner.
