Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you’ve heard that there’s a total solar eclipse making it’s way across the US from coast to coast on August 21st. It will reach totality in Charleston around 2:46 pm, plunging the Holy City in darkness and being utterly awesome. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and Charleston is definitely ready to celebrate it. (PS don’t forget to order your eclipse viewing glasses!). [This list will be updated as more events are added. Last update 8/17, 2:59 am] Daniel Island Daniel Island Library August 21, 1 – 2 pm, free admission On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the Sun will be visible in the continental United States. This total eclipse will only be visible on a narrow track stretching across the United States from Oregon to South Carolina. No other country will get to see the total eclipse this time and parts of the Lowcountry are in the direct path! Join BCLS for this historical event.
